Best Marriage Proposals Ever!
They all have something in common.
- 1First of all: they make me cry!
There is a time in every man's life when he must ask the most important question that will change his life forever. And there is a time in every woman's life when a man is going to ask the question she's been waiting to hear for a long time.
- 2Secondly: she has absolutely no idea.
The best proposal is always the unexpected one. It's even better when she's busy doing something else, when she's thinking something else, or basically when she just doesn't have a clue of what is about to happen.
- 3Thirdly: they all have an elaborate plan, and there are always cameras so others can watch the effects of their efforts.
All of these elaborate plans require effort, but the most important part of a great proposal is a brilliant idea. Many of them involve dancing, with choreography performed either by semi-professionals or completely amateur dancers with the help of some family and friends.
And actually, the more amateur they are, the sweeter the proposal.
- 4Finally: They all end in a touching "yes" and lots of tears.
And how can it be otherwise? After all the effort and energy put into the proposal, it's only right that the woman accepts.
These are the best wedding proposals ever, and in this article I'm going to walk you through all of them.
Isaac's Live Lip-Dub Proposal
Isaac and Amy, 23rd May 2012
Isaac invited his girlfriend, Amy, to his parents' house for dinner. When she arrived, she was put on the back of a car with some headphones on, and so started the "World's First Live Lip-Dub Proposal"! The car moves at a walking pace through the neighbourhood, while family and friends start their walking choreography to the notes of this beautiful and appropriate song: "Marry You" by Bruno Mars.
Family and friends increase in number while the song goes ahead, and eventually a marching band makes its appearance with a total of more than 60 people involved in the choreography! And at the end... I don't want to spoil it, see for yourself!
Venice Proposal Flashmob
Danny and Shonagh, 5th Sep 2012
This is actually the first video I'd seen of all these series, the first one that moved me into tears and gave me the idea to write this article.
Danny put this choreography together for his girlfriend Shonagh, and it was performed with a number of friends and family in Piazza San Marco (St Mark's Square) the main public square in Venice (Italy). Tourists and passengers stared, amazed and surprised, at the entire performance. The song you will hear is the Hall and Oates classic 'You Make my Dreams Come True'. Sometimes the shots are a little bit amateur... but who cares! It will make you cry anyway!
Jamin's Downtown Disney Flashmob Proposal
Jamin and Val, 24th Sep 2012
Another proposal featuring choreography for "Marry You" by Bruno Mars. And how can you blame them?! Here the dancers are definitely more professional. And the burst of emotion is huge! Enjoy!
In Descent Proposal
Ryan and Carlie
Scary! You are flying with your boyfriend, a trusted airplane pilot, and this guy comes out with a prank which sounds like "Honey, I need you to stay calm. The flight controls aren't responding." I found this video a little slow, actually. But you can't blame them; nobody is born a natural videographer. However, watch it until the proposal and it will be worth the wait.
Brad and Emily get Engaged! (A LipDub Proposal)
Brad and Emily
A very elaborate plan involving lots of people, a path, choreography, and a sort of scavenger hunt. Sweet!
Glee Flash Mob & Marriage Proposal
Tim and Emily, 21st April 2012
This guy proposed in the middle of a crowd of more than 1,000 people, all of whom were staring at him and at his girlfriend, all waiting for her to say that "yes". All ready to celebrate that "yes"! It was during a meeting of nearly 1,000 flash-mobbers that came together in Seattle for the 3rd Annual Glee Flash Mob! They too were surprised when, in the middle of the crowd, Tim made his marriage proposal.
SURPRISE ENDING - Flash Mob Marriage Proposal
9th June 2012
That was impressive! For the plan, for the number of people involved, and for all the emotion that exploded with that performance. I also liked the speech. Simple and effective: "I didn't know how to show you how much I loved you, so I figured I'd bring some friends to show you how much I love you" ... the rest of the speech... I don't want to spoil it. Watch for yourself.
David and Nicky, 15th August 2012
That was really sweet! This guy made a small video, a fake movie trailer telling the story of their love, and had it played in a movie theater before the movie they went to see with both their families. The video was very professional and the idea brilliant.
25 Awesome Wedding Proposals
This is not actually the recording of one wedding proposal. It's a list of 25 very different wedding proposals. Some are very nice and the video is worth watching if you want to find some good ideas for your own wedding proposal.
CONCLUSION: THE FINAL PROPOSAL
In order to end this list with our feet on the ground, I'd like to propose something simpler. Otherwise, it seems that any regular guy has to involve a big number of friends and family in some highly detailed plan or spend a lot of money to make a great wedding proposal.
Indeed a wedding proposal might be simple and simply romantic, maybe performed during a holiday overseas in some romantic place, maybe during a dinner overlooking a sea in some beautiful coast of the Italian Riviera... as it happens for Klaudia and Gerard in this picture below.
Gerard took his girlfriend Klaudia out for dinner in Monterosso, on the amazing coast of the Cinque Terre in northern Italy. The restaurant had this beautiful and romantic terrace facing the sea, and at the restaurant there were two other special guests: two incognito professional wedding photographers hired by Gerard to be ready to shoot as he made the move. Read the whole story here...
So at the end, and despite this list of epic performances, wedding proposals might be very simple and yet effective.
Just remember to hire a professional photographer to shoot at the exact moment when you propose... because we really want to see her face!
